Sharhabeel AL-ZAEEM

Minister of Justice of Palestine*


 

Mr. Sharhabeel Al Zaeem is the current Minister of Justice of Palestine, and is the founder of Alzaeem & Associates, the leading commercial law firm in Palestine. He is considered one of the most notable legal practitioners and scholars in the region, with a distinguished academic and professional portfolio.

 

Mr. Al Zaeem’s legal education began with a BA in Law from the University of Alexandria in 1982. He also holds two Master's degrees: a Master in Regional Studies from Al Quds/Abu Deis University (2007) and a Master in Law from Al Azhar University (2008).

 

Further, Mr. Al Zaeem has acquired multiple advanced certificates from prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK, the American Arbitration Association, and Harvard Law School in the USA.

 

Before assuming his current position as the Minister of Justice, he played a significant role as a Legal Advisor to the Palestinian Delegation to the Peace Talks in Washington DC in 1992-1993. In addition, Mr. Al Zaeem is a member of the Steering Committee of Yale University’s Middle East Legal Studies Seminar, and the Vice President of the Association of European Lawyers (AEL).

 

He also is a member in several key organizations, including the Palestinian Bar Association, the Arab Society for Intellectual Property, and various educational and legal advisory boards. Mr. Al Zaeem's contributions to legal education and reform, combined with his extensive participation in international law and arbitration, underscore his profound influence on the legal landscape in Palestine and the broader Middle East region.
