Chagai Vinizky
Dr. Chagai Vinizky is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Legal Clinics at the Academic College of Law & Science. He is the Head of the Begin Institute of Law and Zionism, a military judge (reserve) since 2004 and has been a member of the Israel Bar Association since 1998. In 2021, he was a candidate for the position of Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel.
Vinizky was a member of a professional team appointed by the Prime Minister of Israel to formulate an outline for regulating construction in Judea and Samaria (2015-2018). He is the author of the article "Constitutional Aspects of Regulating Israeli Construction in Judea and Samaria", Oxford Handbook of The Israeli Constitution (Aharon Barak, Barak Medina & Yaniv Roznai, eds., Oxford University Press, Forthcoming 2024). On this subject, he also researched and wrote about the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights regarding the conflict in Northern Cyprus and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Vinizky published a joint study with Dr. Shaul Sharf on nationality clauses in 193 constitutions, presented to the Knesset Committee that prepared the Basic-Law: Israel - The Nation State of the Jewish People, and was one of the leaders in the legislative process of this Basic Law. He published an article in a leading Israeli law journal on the rights of the Jewish people in this basic law.
Vinizky wrote and edited books and published articles, some in collaboration with others, in the fields of Property Law, Contract Law, Intellectual Property, Class Actions, the law applicable in Judea and Samaria, including the application of International Law. The articles have been published in legal books and in law journals in Israel and the United States.
