Simona Granata-Menghini is the Director/Secretary of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) as of 1 February 2021. She was previously Deputy Secretary since 2010.
Simona started her career at the Council of Europe in 1994 as case-lawyer at the European Commission on Human Rights, Council of Europe. From 1997 to 1999 she was Senior Deputy Human Rights Ombudsperson in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. From 1999 to 2000 she was case lawyer at the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights. She joined the Venice Commission in 2001, as Head of the Constitutional Cooperation Division.
