On 9 September 2024, the Venice Commission in collaboration with the CEC co-organized a comprehensive webinar to facilitate the preparation for these electoral events. The webinar brought together over 70 participants, including representatives from the CEC and district electoral councils.
This event provided a crucial platform to discuss practical aspects related to the implementation of the legal framework ahead of these two ballots. Key discussions focused on the stability of electoral law, the role of public authorities during the referendum campaign, media and social media coverage of the contests, as well as the oversight of political finances. Additionally, participants examined the investigative powers of election authorities and the available sanctions against breaches of campaign finance regulations.
