Helsinki - The Venice Commission is organising in co-operation with the Ministry of Justice, the Parliament and the National Audit Office of Finland the 11th European Electoral Management Bodies Conference. This major electoral event will take place in Helsinki, Finland, on 26-27 June 2014. The core topic of the Conference is: “Combating the misuse of administrative resources during electoral processes”. Discussions will take place in a series of three plenary sessions and nine thematic working groups.
More than 90 participants, representatives of 26 countries and 5 international institutions will be joining the Conference. Ms Ana-Maja Henriksson, Minister of Justice of Finland, and Ms Ruija Brax, Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Audit Committee of Finland, will open the Conference. Mr Gianni Buquicchio, President of the Venice Commission, will participate in the opening panel. The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe/Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), the Association of World Electoral Bodies (A-WEB), International IDEA and other institutions active in the electoral field will also attend the Conference.
The Conference will take place at the Pikkuparlamentti / The Little Parliament, Arkadiankatu 3, Helsinki, Finland from Thursday 26 (9 am) to Friday 27 June 2014 (4.30 pm).
