South Mediterranean - Training academy for young professionals on democratic governance

05/04/2014 - 13/04/2014

Venice - The Training Academy is a pilot project which is aimed at young professionals from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria employed by public or private organisations beneficiaries of EU projects, which are intended to strengthen the human rights, the rule of law and democracy in the region.

The Academy program will enable participants to acquire knowledge and solid competences on human rights, good governance and the principles of the rule of law.

This pilot project is funded by the European Union within the framework of the South Programme, a joint program between the European Union and the Council of Europe, and the Regional program on violence against women including children funded by Norway. Training is implemented by the Council of Europe in partnership with the Venice International University ( VIU) and the University Center for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC).

In the context of this Programme, a representative of the Venice Commission speaks on the topic: "Free and impartial elections".
