Models of constitutional complaints in Central Asian countries - international conference

Samarkand – The Venice Commission organised in co-operation with the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan an international conference entitled “Models of constitutional complaints in Central Asian countries”.

The conference took place on 25-26 May 2023 in Samarkand and gathered high-level representatives from the Constitutional Courts of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Venice Commission experts from France, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia participated in the event and contributed to the exchanges on best practices with their Central Asian counterparts on the models of constitutional review of legislation. Debates also focused on the individual constitutional complaint as an effective mechanism for the protection of fundamental rights.

The event was organised in the framework of the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023 which is financed by the Council of Europe and the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
