Global workshop on universal electoral rights of the handicapped (Sigtuna, Sweden)
Handicapped people are among the most politically, economically and socially marginalized in the world. This workshop seeks to identify clear guidelines articulating the universal voting rights of citizens with disabilities.
The event is co-organised by the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). It is sponsored by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and is carried out in cooperation with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Disability. The Venice Commission will offer its expertise on electoral issues.
