Bosnia and Herzegovina – forthcoming opinion – series of online meetings

Following the request of the Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Venice Commission is preparing an opinion on the draft law on amendments to the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council.
In this context, the Venice Commission organised a series of virtual meetings with the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina which took place on 28-29 January 2021.
The rapporteurs of the Venice Commission virtually met with the Ministers of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of the two entities, representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, the Judicial Association Coordination Body, the Brčko District Judicial Commission and the Training Centres for Judges and Prosecutors of both entities, the EU Delegation, the OSCE, the Office of the High Representative, the US Embassy, as well as civil society.
The opinion is being prepared under the Expertise Co-ordination Mechanism in the framework of the EU/CoE joint programme “Horizontal Facility II”, co-funded by the Council of Europe and the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
