Tunisia – Electoral disputes - Training for judges

05/07/2011 - 08/07/2011

Tunis – At the request of the Administrative Tribunal of Tunis, the Venice Commission organised a training Seminar for 40 judges on electoral disputes in the framework of the election of the National Constituent Assembly foreseen on 23 October 2011. This seminar dealt with disputes that may arise on:

• the validity of candidatures,
• the respect of the rules on the electoral campaign and
• the results of the election.

This activity was possible thanks to a voluntary contribution of the government of Turkey to the Commission’s activities in Tunisia. The seminar was successful and the Administrative Tribunal requested a second training session which will take place in Tunis on 19-23 September for 65 judges.
