The President of the Venice Commission, Mr. Gianni Buquicchio, took part in a hearing organised by the Commission for European Affairs of the French Senate on the rule of law in the European Union.
He presented the work of the Venice Commission in the area of the rule of law, in particular the Rule of law Checklist, as well as the contribution of the Commission to the activities of the European Union in this area, in particular the EU Rule of Law Report, recently published. The 2020 Rule of Law Report issued by the European Commission last September, presents a synthesis of both the rule of law situation in the EU and an assessment of the situation in each Member State.
