Ibero-American Federation of Ombudsmen (FIO) - Venice Principles

11/05/2021 - 12/05/2021

The Venice Commission is organising in cooperation with the Ibero-American Federation of Ombudsmen (FIO) an online Conference on "The Venice Principles and Ombudsman Institutions in the protection of Human Rights in Latin America and Europe", on 11-12 May 2021.

The main objective is to raise awareness of the "Venice Principles" in Latin America and to strengthen a common tradition of democracy, human rights, rule of law and good governance in Latin America as well as to compare the regional experience with the European one. The Conference is an opportunity to make the "Venice Principles" a living text that can be adapted to different legal and political contexts beyond the European 2model. The link to this conference is available in the attached programme.

This activity is organised in the framework of the joint programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe - Support for reforms of electoral law and practice and regional human rights instruments and mechanisms in Latin America, Central Asia and Mongolia.
