In the framework of the preparation of the draft opinion on December 2021 amendments to the Organic Law on Common Courts of Georgia, a delegation of the Venice Commission met online with the representatives of the following authorities and other stakeholders:
• Parliamentary majority and opposition,
• Public Defender,
• Supreme and Constitutional Courts,
• High Council of Justice,
• Georgian Association of Judges,
• international community and NGOs and civil society.
The request for this opinion was submitted by the Chairperson of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on 2 February 2022.
It will be on the agenda of the June plenary session of the Commission (17-18 June 2022).
