Almaty - On 26th August 2022, representatives of the Venice Commission participated in an international round table, dedicated to the Constitution Day organised by the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The round table was organised in a hybrid format and is entitled “The evolution of constitutional control in the context of societal and state transformation". High level experts participated in the round table, including the Presidents of the Constitutional Courts and Councils of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Venice Commission’s experts from Armenia, Croatia, Georgia and Korea also presented reports respectively in the three sessions of the roundtable, namely constitutional complaint: models and legal regulation, constitutional proceedings, and execution of the constitutional review bodies’ decisions.
The event was opened by the President of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan, Mr Kairat Mami, as well as by Mr Vladimir Vardanyan, Member of the Venice Commission on behalf of Armenia, Ms Frauke Bachler, General Director of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) and the European Union Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mr Kestutis Jankauskas.
The international round table was organised in the framework of the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023, which is co-financed by the Council of Europe and the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
