REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA - forthcoming opinion - online meetings

In the framework of the preparation of the draft opinion on amendments to the Electoral Code of the Republic of Moldova and other related laws concerning ineligibility of persons connected to political parties declared unconstitutional, the rapporteurs met with the following interlocutors:

• Minister of Justice and other representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Secretary of State;
• Chair, Deputy Chair and members of the Legal Committee on Appointments and Immunities, members of the Faction of the Party of Action and Solidarity of the Parliament;
• independent MPs of the Parliament;
• members and other representatives of the Central Electoral Commission;
• representatives of the office of the Ombudsman;
• representatives of the civil society and EU representatives.


The draft opinion will be submitted for adoption at the 136th Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (6-7 October 2023). It will be prepared under the Quick Response Mechanism (QRM), in the framework of the EU/CoE joint programme Partnership for Good Governance, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
